Old / New

Old/New is a film by Seth Worley and Aharon Rabinowitz about a man with a few names (he hasn’t decided yet) whose obsessions span from new to old to new to some almost perfect balance by the end. Mixed in with love, cloning, possessions, and time travel it’s a great watch narrated by Patton Oswalt.

Hafthór Björnsson, The Most Badass Viking

If you’re like me, you’re a big A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones fan.  This latest season, the directors did a good job as casting Hafthór Björnsson as the badass of a human known as The Mountain (Gregor Clegane if you’re nasty). And this video shows that Hafthór is just as beastly off camera as he is portrayed on camera.  The captain of legend needed 50 mortal men to place the mast on his back, then proceeded to take 2 steps and break his back. To put this into perspective, Hafthór took 5 steps. Granted he didn’t have to lift it up, and the steps weren’t terribly big but you know what?  I have no bad words to say to the guy who walked with about 1400 lbs on his back for 5 steps.  Because he could come to my house and kick out a load bearing wall if he really wanted to.  Nothing but love to you Hafthór, The Mountain, Strongest Viking in the World, or whatever well deserved title you may want to go by.

One of the entries from the 2015 Sundance film festival is Turbo Kid. Created by Anouk Whissell, François Simard, and Yoann-Karl Whissell of the RKSS collective. We get an awesome glimpse into the apocalyptic future of 1997 complete with over the top gore, BMX biking, and a turbo charged weapon for dispatching bad guys. Look out for this one people, it looks like a lot of fun.

Every 90’s Commercial Ever

Growing up in the 90’s you saw a lot of ads like this, well not quite like this but very close. Liquid Slam is every drink from my youth basically, and I really want some right now because it looks totally tubular! Man! Who would have thought turning into some type of CGI liquid metal would have consequences. Thanks to RocketJump I still want some. (a tad bit of gore in this one)

Coffee Around The World

Want to learn how to prepare different coffee drinks from around the world? Buzzfeed has us all covered. Eh, I’m more prone to just wanting to drink all these coffees versus actually preparing them, not my fault though I’m cursed with a lazy gene. As someone who is around large quantities of coffee almost daily, and consumes a fair share this video speaks to me.

Tall Tales

Here we have an animation by Kilogramme about some myths and or straight up lies parents may tell children for…I don’t even know, cruelty or maybe their own amusement. I’m partial to the amusement factor, lies are okay if they are funny is the lesson here, or if they completely alter ones behavior for the future…right? then it’s okay?

Nausea

Nausea is the new music video for the song of the same name by Jeff Rosenstock. This is my first experience with Jeff, and I’m really enjoying our time together. Catchy song and a fun concept for a music video. If confetti was what came blasting out of my mouth when I got sick, I wouldn’t mind being sick so much…also I’d be available for parties.

Rainbow Narcosis

Jonathan Monaghan has created one of the more surreal animations I’ve seen in a while with Rainbow Narcosis. The description for the video states “A lamb gets lost in the multiverse” ya, so I’m not sure I give you a better idea of whats going on here other than that. Just buckle up for some weird.

Knight Rider 2016

Troy Duffy is not a name I have heard in quite some time, and I’m someone who enjoyed the Boondock Saints way back in the 1999. Mr Duffy re-enters our consciousness writing, producing and starring along side Sean Patrick Flanery in this Knight Rider fan film with Sam Macaroni. The tone set here is something that makes me want to see a full length feature.
